Lights. Camera. Distraction.
In our media-saturated age of influencers and ephemera, self-obsession and mass surveillance, it's become all too easy to look without seeing, to watch without focus, to record without vision.
Yet long before little black screens colonized our back pockets, divided and conquered our attention, and narrowed our field of view, far bigger and brighter screens brought us together in the dark and taught us to see ourselves by a more enduring and reflective light.
Cinema is not only the most communal (hence, human*) of screen-based formats and the art that unites all others, its best offerings provide an apprenticeship for the eye, proverbial window to the soul...
It's become all too easy to look without seeing, to watch without focus, to record without vision.
Movies have inspired me for almost as long as I've been alive. Whether shooting video or photos, documenting an event or inventing a storyline, I strive to imbue all my work with something of the radiance and rhythm I have learned from film, to impart even to still images a certain cinematic feel.
But more important than any artist's self-description is whether an image, an edit, or a vision can – like a film you never tire of watching – captivate your attention in a way that leaves you wanting more.
So, please explore my video and photo portfolios, and reach out if you think I might have just the vision you've been looking for. God bless you and thank you for pausing to look.
